.Our.Home.Story.

Jon and I have been living in Iowa for nearly 2 years! Time does fly! We moved up here from the warm & friendly city of Austin, Texas right after we found out we were expecting our 1st little one. We didn't really have any close friends or family in Texas, so we decided to move further north: To Iowa! We have 2 really awesome friends that pretty much grew up here and they kept asking us to move by them, well, we made the decision on our own, but they did have a big influence! We don't regret it, it has been a very good time for our marriage and an awesome place to raise a baby.

We have met AWESOME people who have shown us true friendship. They all have young kids, so I knew I would be in good hands as far as asking for advice and help when needed. When we first moved here we lived in a tiny little apartment in "The Big City" of Waterloo, IA, we lived there for about 13 months, then we bought our first home in a tiny town in the middle of no where on April of 2011 & we LOVE it. We love the town, the people! It is great! it is an awesome home built in 1900! It has so much character and right now we are just starting to make it our own.

Our kitchen is our first real project. Right now we have a BIG open kitchen with LOTS of space! Does that mean: practicality? Not necessarily! We have a set of cabinets on the left:

And NOTHING but our fridge and stove on the right:

Alright, alright, I grew up in Mexico.. not the most luxurious place to live, so I shouldn't be complaining about not having nice cabinets nor counter space. I am grateful to God that I even have a home and a happy family. But when He does bless us, why not improve our situation? Jon's dad has been working on Cabinetry Making since he was 18. Right out of High School! So, you can assume he does, pretty much, have ALL the experience of the world.. it is okay to speak highly of him, he is my father-in-law after all. Anyways, he has been helping Jon with LOTS & LOTS of ideas, advice and time to make this new cabinets. I am so proud of both of them!! They are building our new cabinets!

So taking advantage our situation, I convinced Jon that we should get a:

Yes!! DISHWASHER! I have never been fortunate enough to have a BRAND-NEW dishwasher! I am so excited! No more hand washing! Taking care of 9 kids and feeding them 3 times a day + cooking... you can imagine how much I am going to love this baby!

Well, Jon has been working HARD on mudding and taping our walls, so that we can get our new cabinets installed in under 2 weeks!! I am so excited and I just wanted to share that! I will be posting pictures of the whole process, so be in-tune! In the mean time, I will fly to and back from Cancun, Mexico with Eli. Him and I are going to go visit my mom, her husband & his son and my sister!! I am pretty excited!! I am SO proud of my husband for letting me take this time off and for him to scarify his vacation time and stay behind to re-do the walls and install our new cabinets while I am gone. LOVE YOU SO MUCH BABE!
